Another flavour of Cacao Tea: A partnership with Company Drinks Barking and Dagenham

Updated: Jun 25, 2020

Company Drinks a social enterprise in Barking and Dagenham that does a full drinks production cycle of growing herbs, picking, foraging, processing, branding, bottling of drinks, trading and reinvesting back into the community. They recently started a tea club and Cocoa Social Enterprise CIC is very delighted to be part of their project.

The Tea club is another creative way of reaching out to residents during the lock-down.

Cocoa Social Enterprise CIC will be giving them the husk of the cocoa bean to include with the chocolate mint grown from their garden.

After experimenting with a water/leaf ratio, test batch with Alice from Company Drinks, we will be sending out some Make-Your-Own herbal tea bags, and inviting you to take 10 minutes out of your day to think about how you feel, while enjoying a cuppa and also learn something new about herbs and the cocoa bean.

The husk (shell) of the cocoa bean is the outer portion of the cocoa bean. After roasting the cocoa beans, the shell comes out easily and can be used as tea.

Cacao husk has a super luscious chocolate taste but without calories and no sugar. It is rich in antioxidants than green tea and cocoa husks are a high source of Iron, Calcium, Vitamin E, Zinc, and Copper.

The chocolate mint (Mentha x piperita) are attractive and smell of chocolate and have a refreshing delicious taste

In the final, Make-Your-Own herbal tea bags, the four ingredients that will be added are - Chocolate Mint, Cocoa Husks, Pot Marigold ( Calendula ) and Common Mallow (Malva Sylvestris).

Keep calm and enjoy your herbal infusion
